New cutting edge facial recognition software prints temporary ID’s in 30 seconds to fly at Haikou’s Meilan airport.
All passengers flying domestic routes in China need to present ID cards to check in. In the past, lost damaged or outdated cards could be a real headache for passengers. Not any more.
Now it’s possible to get a temporary ID card in about just 30 seconds from self-service machines by inputting your ID number. Cutting edge facial recognition software verifies your image with its database and prints the ID.
Getting a temporary ID at Chinese airports is not a new service, prior to this however passengers needed a second form of ID to get a temporary one.
It’s not known yet if there are any plans to roll the service out to international residents.
