With the rainy season upon us and frequent thunderstorms and heavy downpours, camping may not be the best option right now, so how about day trips?

Haikou Day trips: R&F Mangrove Bay, Wetlands Park
Chengmai R&F Mangrove Bay is located south of Meilangxie Lake.
It’s a real estate project and high-end resort by R&F Group covering an area of 2.5 hectares, 34 Km (about 45 minutes) from downtown Haikou.
There’s a DoubleTree Resort by Hilton 3 minutes from an 18-hole golf course for those who’d like a bit of luxury or an extended trip.
The park includes a Wetland Nature Education Centre, Migratory Bird Rescue Centre and Science Centre.
The project is centred around the mangrove wetlands with plenty of flora and fauna.
It is reported to be home to 40 different kinds of birds, (bring your camera, some are quite used to people), and 5 different kinds of semi mangroves and rare tree species.
There’s also a flamingo island and a mangrove style market.
The park is open from 8:30 to 17:30
Tickets cost 40 Yuan PP

Not including travel time, plan for at least half a day.
