Hainan Resort Software Community has been included in the first batch of 12 digital service export bases in China.
The special list was co-released by the Ministry of Commerce, the Cyberspace Administration of China, and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
The establishment of the list is expected to promote service outsourcing, as well as help domestic industries climb to the mid-to-high end of the value chain.
The selected parks have received a joint recommendation from the provincial commerce, cyberspace administration, as well as industry and information departments. The 12 digital services bases are categorised as having good export foundations, are strongly competitive, with global influence.
Hainan Resort Software Community is home to more than 5,000 companies, including tech giants Tencent, Baidu, and Huawei. In recent years, the park’s business has been dominated by the generation of new information technology, especially blockchain technology.
It focuses on the development of digital health, digital finance, and other business formats, seeking to nurture and develop a digital industry worth over 100 billion Yuan ($14.12 billion).
In the future, the Ministry of Commerce will work with the Cyberspace Administration of China and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology to formulate plans for the continued development of these bases, roll out precise support policies, accelerate the digital transformation of service exports, foster new enterprises in digital service exports, as well as promote digital service industry openness to other countries.
