Designed by the CLOU architects, Sanya Farm Lab is a 4000 sqm 4-storey exhibition space, located in Nanfan High Tech District, Sanya.
The design focus of the project is said to combine the climate characteristics of Sanya, integrate regional scientific and technological agricultural elements and create a multi-functional research compound and commercial display space.
Chinese studio CLOU Architects drew inspiration from traditional straw-roofed houses when designing the gridded wooden canopy that tops the agricultural education centre.
The completion of the Nanshan Farm Lab is based on modern organic agriculture display and the upgrading and evolution of lifestyles. It blurs the traditional boundaries between nature and the city and narrows the distance between technology and life.

Sanya Jinmao Farm Lab is not Just an exhibition centre
According to the designers, the Farm Lab integrates and covers high-tech exhibitions such as agricultural robotics, indoor vertical farming, etc., bringing a brand new “farm-to-table” experience.
The design presents advanced technologies to the public, highlighting the progress which agricultural tech has made in lifestyle and education territory.
Its key point is to blur the boundaries between indoors and outdoors, maximizing visitors’ interactions inside and outside the building.
Nanfan District in Sanya is being transformed into a tropical agriculture scientific research hub with local government investing in research on environmental change, land and water scarcity and food production issues.
