Tencent and Haikou, Hainan to strengthen cooperation

Nov. 25, 2016 The China “Internet +” innovation conference was held in Haikou. Tencent mobile business group vice president Chen Guangyu expressed hopes that existing ties between Tencent & Haikou can be strengthened further, and looked forward to future developments. Chen Guangyu said “Hainan attaches great importance to “Internet +” the development of the entrepreneurial spirit and innovation and provides support to it through current policies and the result is the emergence of a domestic wave of entrepreneurial innovation”. Haikou city’s small-loan guarantee center has currently granted loans of up to 135 million yuan ($20.7 million) for startups, helping more than 1,700 young entrepreneurs start new businesses and creating about 6,300 jobs. It has also opened two internet industrial clusters piloting China’s Internet Plus strategy. An internet innovation park, one of the clusters, opened its doors in December. “We provide office equipment and free internet access to startups and entrepreneurial teams,” said Wang Xihuan, general manager of the park. In june 2016 The Hainan Daily Newspaper Group and the Hainan Provincial Department signed a strategic cooperation agreement to cooperate in developing the Haikou center park for the Internet and new media industry. The Haikou center park covers an area of about 3,000 square meters of office space of about 2,000 square meters, and can accommodated more than about 20 small and micro enterprises
