The first phase of the Haikou Jiangdong New Area Aircraft Engine Maintenance Base project has now entered the main stage of construction.
The aircraft-engine maintenance base is a key airport industry project for the Haikou Jiangdong New Area. It is also one of many projects that have been under development in the Jiandong New Area over the past six months.
The project first started construction back in September this year and covers an area of 48,600 square meters.
The area has space for engine overhaul workshops, engine test workshops, workshop fuel stations, power stations, chemical product warehouses, and comprehensive service building with concierges.
The foundations of the No. 2 engine overhaul plant and the pile foundations of the No. 1 comprehensive service building have been completed.
The No. 2 engine overhaul workshop will begin shaping of the steel frame structure from January 30, 2021.
The first phase of the project will be capable of 60 engine overhauls per year.
In the future, it will be capable of maintaining multiple models of engines.
The aircraft engine maintenance base will be an aviation maintenance and business distribution centre within the Asia-Pacific region, a one-stop service for a range of aircraft maintenance projects.
