Haikou Adds New International Route: Haikou to Hanoi, Vietnam

On the evening of June 15, flight GX8981 successfully took off from Haikou Meilan International Airport, marking the opening of the Haikou ⇌ Hanoi, Vietnam passenger route.

This new route is Haikou’s third Vietnamese destination after Nha Trang and Ho Chi Minh City, providing more travel options for passengers between the two locations.

The Haikou ⇌ Hanoi route is operated by Beibu Gulf Airlines using an A320 aircraft, with flights every Tuesday and Saturday.

Flight GX8981 from Haikou to Hanoi departs at 23:20 and is expected to land in Hanoi at 01:00 the next day, with a flight time of around 1h 40m. The return flight GX8982 departs from Hanoi at 02:05 and is expected to arrive in Haikou at 03:40. All times are in Beijing time.

As of June 15, Meilan Airport has opened a total of 33 international and regional passenger routes, connecting 13 countries and 21 cities.

This year, it reportedly handled 4,499 international and regional passenger flights, with a passenger throughput of 528,800. It is reported that Meilan Airport will subsequently open routes to Moscow and increase the frequency of flights to Kuala Lumpur, continuously expanding Hainan Free Trade Port’s international routes.
