HAIKOU, October 8th, 2023 – The Haikou Municipal Transportation and Port Management Bureau has issued a notice, stating that, in light of the influence of Typhoon “Koinu” operations at Haikou’s three major ports will be suspended starting from October 9th, pending wind conditions in the Qiongzhou Strait.
The affected ports include Haikou New Port, Xiuying Port, and Railway South Port. The precise timing of the suspension will be contingent on the evolving wind conditions in the region. Currently, there is ample shipping capacity available at these ports.
To ensure smooth travel for drivers and passengers who need to cross the sea, the Bureau advises making appropriate travel arrangements and booking ferry tickets in advance of the suspension. Travelers are also urged to arrive at the port ahead of the departure time indicated on their purchased ferry tickets.
For customer service inquiries, Xiuying Port and New Port can be reached at 9693666, while Railway South Port’s customer service hotline is 0898-31686888. General inquiries can be directed to the citizen hotline at 12345.
