Program Announced for the 2026 Haikou New Year’s Concert

The 2026 Haikou New Year’s Concert will take place on January 1 and 2, 2026, at the Hainan Provincial Song and Dance Theatre in Haikou.

The concerts will be performed by the Changchun Film Orchestra, conducted by Zhang Hua, with He Nan serving as concertmaster. The orchestra will be joined by several Chinese vocal soloists. Together, they will present two evenings of symphonic and vocal music to mark the beginning of the new year.

January 1 Program

Classical Music and Contemporary Chinese Works

The January 1 concert centers on a blend of Western classical repertoire and well-known Chinese orchestral and vocal works. The program opens with Johann Strauss II’s Voices of Spring Waltz and continues with Youth Waltz by Chinese composer Du Mingxin. These are followed by orchestral arrangements of familiar Chinese melodies, including the theme from the television series A Lifelong Journey and The Story of Spring, as well as the theme song from the film If Love Has Providence.

Several vocal selections are also included, alongside orchestral works inspired by folk traditions, regional themes, and music from film and opera.

January 2 Program

“Ode to Light and Shadow”

The January 2 concert, titled Ode to Light and Shadow, focuses on music from film and musical theatre. The program brings together selections from Hollywood, Broadway, and Chinese cinema, including music from internationally recognized productions such as La La Land, The Lion King, and Beauty and the Beast. The evening highlights the symphonic treatment of screen music and themes familiar to a broad audience.

Tickets and Discounts

Tickets are available through the Hainan Provincial Song and Dance Theatre and major Chinese ticketing platforms, including Damai and Maoyan. Ticket prices are set at 880 yuan, 680 yuan, 480 yuan, 280 yuan, 180 yuan, and 68 yuan (subsidized community tickets).

Discount policies include:

• 40% off for tickets priced at 180 yuan and above

• 50% off for purchases of three or more tickets in a single order

• 60% off for group bookings of six or more people, or for orders totaling more than 10,000 yuan

• A 50% student discount for offline purchases with valid student identification (excluding subsidized tickets)

The final program is subject to change at the discretion of the performers and organizers.
