Meilan Airport Industrial Park

Meilan Airport Industrial Park is located in Yanfeng Town just outside Haikou City, east of Haikou Meilan International Airport. It covers a total area of 11.43 square kilometers. The north side of the park is an industrial area of 7.79 square kilometers and the south of the park is the Haikou Airport Free Trade Zone and supporting service area, which covers an area of 3.64 square kilometers.

In December 2015, the Haikou municipal government approved the enlargement of the 6.33-square kilometer original area. According to the plan, the area will become a large-scale park integrating aviation manufacturing, aviation maintenance, production and processing, duty-free processing, duty-free warehousing, aviation display and exhibition and sales. With a total investment of about 50 billion yuan ($7.56 billion), the park will create jobs for 54,000 people and within 10 years is expected to contribute tax revenue of 6.306 billion yuan.

The investment promotion and filing of the first five projects has been completed. These projects cover an area of 3,900 mu (2.6 square kilometers), accounting for 67 percent of the net land area (5824 mu) of the first phase.

The park has completed the filing procedures, determined the scope of the project site, and formulated the overall regulatory plan. The conceptual planning and industrial planning of the park have been approved by the Haikou municipal government. From 2015 to 2016, the park received a total of 1.17 billion yuan of special funds from financial institutions such as the Agricultural Development Fund, the Agricultural Development Bank of China and China Cinda Asset Management.
