The duty-free pickup point for travellers departing Hainan Island by rail and ferry will open on March 23rd at Haikou South Port (海口南港), according to the Hainan Daily. The move is aimed at supporting the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port and the international tourism and consumption centre, as well as enhancing the duty-free shopping experience for travellers departing Hainan Island.

Travelers departing Hainan Island by rail and ferry can purchase duty-free goods at the island’s duty-free shops and their online sales outlets by presenting their ferry tickets and valid identification documents. Upon leaving the island, they can collect the duty-free goods they purchased at the duty-free pickup point located inside the passenger transport building at Haikou South Port by presenting their ferry ticket, shopping voucher and identification documents.

The duty-free pickup point at Haikou South Port covers an area of approximately 200 square meters, with 21 counters (19 for regular passengers and 2 for drivers) to facilitate the efficient collection of duty-free goods.

Railway and ferry operators remind passengers that duty-free goods must be purchased at least six hours before departure and that pickup times are not affected by changes to ferry tickets.
