Hostels in Qionghai, Hainan, Ola Hostel

Ola Hostel

Located in a side street off of Wenming Road, Ola Hostel is a rare delight that has to be experienced to believe.

Converted from a traditional style southeast Chinese apartment into a hotel 2 years ago by a local family, there is a lot of charm to be found in this place.

Upon entering, you find yourself in a quiet sitting room lined with traditional hand-carved wood furniture that not only looks, but also, is, something out of a Hainanese home. The main floor includes a sitting area arranged in typical Chinese tea ceremony fashion, a nice place to doze the day away, or sit and drink tea with the owners and learn firsthand what life in Qionghai is like (hint: ask them for food recommendations.)

When you get back from what was surely a (full)filling day (sorry), head upstairs to your room.

The standard double private is spacious, quiet, and a steal at 10 bucks U.S. a night for two people, and comes highly recommended! The dorms are great, too, housed in rooms with more than enough space to fit in a few more bunks and still call it, “Cosy.”

Please do note that the bathrooms in Ola Hostel are all shared, but are very clean.

Ola really nails the whole “local experience” thing down solid. With great service, nice people, and spacious rooms, Ola Hostel truly is an excellent place to drop your bags and lay your head.
