The Sixth Asian Beach Games, which were to be held in Sanya on April 2-10, 2021, have been postponed to a later date due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as announced by the Olympic Council of Asia.
The corresponding decision was made after consultations between the Asian Olympic Council, the Chinese Olympic Committee and the Organizing Committee of the Sixth Asian Beach Games in the interests of ensuring the safety of the event participants. New dates for the games have not been announced yet.
Sanya won the right to host the Sixth Asian Beach Games in March 2019. Competitions include 16 disciplines, including swimming, water polo, beach athletics, basketball, volleyball, handball, football, wrestling, rowing, sailing, surfing and others.
