Typhoon Wipha continues to batter southern China, with the National Meteorological Center issuing a yellow alert early this morning (July 21). The storm is expected to move into the Beibu Gulf later today, where it may strengthen further.
Today marks a critical phase of the typhoon’s impact. Coastal regions from Zhejiang to Guangxi are bracing for widespread heavy to torrential rain. Parts of Hainan Island are forecast to see exceptionally intense downpours.
The heavy rain won’t end today. Over the next three days, Zhejiang, Fujian, Taiwan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Jiangxi, Hunan, Hubei, and Guizhou will experience prolonged rainfall and potential flooding.
Elsewhere, southeastern Jilin, eastern Liaoning, the southern areas of North China, and the southwestern Sichuan Basin will also see heavy rain today.
Residents in affected areas are urged to stay alert, monitor official weather updates, and take necessary precautions against potential flooding, landslides, and travel disruptions.
