May 5th, Hainan University and Arizona State University signed a letter of intent for cooperation. Both sides will make full use of their resources starting with the building of an International Trade College on the Mission Hills Campus of Hainan University.
The planned land area of the Mission Hills Campus of Hainan University is about 681 mu, (112 acres) and land acquisition has basically been completed.
According to the letter of intent, Hainan University and Arizona State University intend to carry out cooperation in disciplines, including but not limited to, international trade, finance, accounting, big data application and art and design.
It is understood that the two sides agreed to start with the establishment of the School of International Trade on the Mission Hills Campus, which will include undergraduate and master’s programs, and specialised fields including international trade, finance, and accounting.
As early as 2017, Hainan University and Arizona State University entered into a partnership to establish a Joint Institute for international tourism
In the program, the two professional courses are closely integrated and the teaching language is gradually transferred from bilingual to English teaching.
At present, there are three undergraduate majors: hotel management, urban and rural planning and administrative management.
There are more than 800 students in three grades.
It is believed that the signing of the Letter of Intent for a comprehensive cooperation between Hainan University and Arizona State University will further advance the establishment of a strategic partnership between the two universities and help the construction of Hainan Free Trade Zone (Port).
