The website was co-founded by three American Shanghai ex-pats in March 2016. In the past five years, the site has surpassed a number of milestones and has been a resounding success.

4.7 million items have been purchased through the site

1.2 million orders placed

46.5 million USD total sales

85,000 registered users

55 items purchased per user

Baopals won the 2017 OTEC International Startup Competition, the only foreign team to ever win the Shanghai Municipal Startup Competition.

The website has a clean and simple-to-use interface and apart from shopping users can read the latest blogs, find the hottest sellers and join the Baopals online community.

The Baopals team also included a “size guide” section which includes translated copies of Chinese sizing charts.

Cool, Cheap and Crazy

One of our favorite features of the site has to be the “cool, cheap, and crazy” section. Each week the staff at Baopals search through the websites of e-commerce shopping giants for some of the coolest, cheapest, craziest items on the web.

Shipping and contact the seller.

On the website, you can enter your address in Chinese or English (and the Baopals team will translate it for the sellers). All sellers on Baopals ship directly to you and you can track your delivery updates in English from the Baopals orders page.

Baopals, try to ensure that all sellers ship out within 48 hours of a buyer placing an order. If a seller has not shipped out within 48 hours, the team will contact the seller directly for an update.

In the event that a seller has been unresponsive to messages or has repeatedly given false information on shipment times, Baopals staff will request a refund on your behalf and refund you in full for your item.

Users can also ship to Hong Kong and Australia. The Baopals website states that shipping to other countries such as the United States and Canada will be coming soon.

Payment

Currently, Baopals offers WeChat Wallet, China UnionPay, Alipay, and PayPal as payment options. You may also pay with your Baopals Wallet if you have enough funds in your wallet balance.

Please note: While shopping on the WeChat mobile browser, it is not possible to pay with Alipay.

Shop and track orders through Wechat

Customers can also shop, access their orders, and see what’s trending in the Baopals community through the Baopals Official Wechat account. A team of digital content creators and design experts also creates around 4-5 posts per week to promote products in an entertaining way.
