New changes to Hainan Health Code Rules affecting family members function

According to the Hainan Provincial Big Data Administration, in order to ensure the safe and effective use of the “family health code” option on the Hainan health code, a new facial recognition feature has been added.

Those needing to register family members aged 16-60 years on the APP will now need to carry out facial recognition with family members before proceeding.

The feature has been added to prevent others from falsely claiming and occupying the health code.

Additionally, for family health codes that have been successfully setup in the past, facial recognition will now need to be verified before it can be continued to be used.

The family members section of the health code can be accessed by clicking the section highlighted above

Hainan Health Code previously launched the “Family Health Code” function, which is convenient for users to apply for health codes for groups who do not have or cannot operate smartphones.

The “head of a household account” can add up to 8 family members. Users can apply for a personal Hainan health code through the Haiyiban App, WeChat official account, or Alipay applet. Click the “Add Family” function on the main page and add family members through mobile phone numbers and ID information to apply for family members’ health code.

According to the administration, in the past, people have made false claims regarding other people’s health codes in order to ‘save trouble’, which brings greater security risks to epidemic prevention and control.

“Adding facial recognition to ‘family health codes’ can effectively protect the masses health code information, security and privacy security while ensuring that epidemic prevention and control work is more accurate and scientific.” said a spokesperson in charge of the Provincial Big Data Administration.

There are two ways:

To add through a mobile phone number, you need to obtain a mobile phone verification code sent to the phone and complete additional information after verification.

Name and ID information is required. If the added family member is between 16-60 years old, the added person needs to undergo facial recognition authentication. It should be noted that the “family health code” facial recognition is valid for 30 days. After 30 days, face recognition verification needs to be performed again before it can continue to be used.

After the family member is successfully added, click “family health code” again to see the information of all the added family members.

You can then switch between family members to display the corresponding health code.
