Wanning city has just released a list of key investment projects for 2021 and a new surf school will be built at Hainan’s hottest surfing destination by the end of 2022.
The plan is to build the school in the Tianxin primary school, where it will have 18 classes (2 classes per grade) with 45 students per class, around 810 students.
The total investment is 170 million yuan and it will cover an area of land around 50 acres.
The building project will consist of 1 teaching complex building (including offices and a library), a canteen, two student dormitories, housing building for teachers and support buildings for surf training.
The surf school is due to start in June this year and be finished by December 2022.
At present, the preliminary design and budget estimates are being prepared for the project.
Surfing in Wanning has grown in popularity in recent years. What once was a sleepy little surf town with a couple of surfing shops and a hostel has grown into the most popular destination for surfing in Hainan, possibly even China.
Each year major domestic and international competitions are held here and it’s also the base for the Chinese National Surfing Team.
