WeChat’s New Cache Cleanup Feature, Manually Select What to Delete

WeChat’s New Update Helps Reduce Storage Usage

The latest WeChat update introduces a feature that makes it easier to free up storage space. Now, you can selectively batch delete original photos and videos you have received or sent. This update is available for both Android and iOS users.

Step-by-Step Guide to Cleaning Up WeChat Storage

If you find that WeChat is taking up too much space on your phone, follow these simple steps to clean up unnecessary files:

Update WeChat – First, make sure you have updated WeChat to the latest version. The new cache cleanup feature is only available in the most recent update.

Files from specific chats – Sort by chat to see which conversations take up the most space and delete files from selected chats.

Sort by file size – Identify and remove larger files first.

Manually select files – Instead of deleting everything at once, pick individual photos or videos to remove.

Begin Cleanup – Once you’ve made your selections, confirm the deletion. The time required for cleanup will depend on the file size.

Continue Using WeChat – The cleanup runs in the background, so you can continue using WeChat as usual while the process completes.

Why This Feature is Useful

Many WeChat users accumulate a large amount of media files over time, which takes up significant storage space. With this new feature, you can easily manage and remove unnecessary files while at the same time keeping those files that are important to you, keeping your device storage optimized.
