Weekly flights set to launch from Uzbekistan to Hainan in tourism push

It is estimated that 45,000 tourists from China visited Uzbekistan in 2023. This year, a several-fold increase in visitors is expected.

To boost travel numbers, there are plans to launch direct flights from Uzbekistan to Hainan province. From June, flights are intended to be operated weekly, with plans to increase the frequency to three times a week eventually.

The organization of air communication on the Uzbek side will be handled by the tourism company Prestige Travel.

Uzbekistan boasts a rich cultural heritage, stunning architecture, and welcoming locals, making it an increasingly popular destination for travellers from around the world.

In ancient times, Uzbekistan was a significant part of the ancient Silk Road network. The Silk Road was a network of trade routes that connected the East and West, facilitating the exchange of goods, culture, and ideas between Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia, and China during ancient times.

The Silk Road facilitated the exchange of silk, spices, precious metals, ceramics, and other goods, as well as the transmission of religions, languages, and technologies. The legacy of the Silk Road is deeply ingrained in Uzbekistan’s history and culture, with many ancient sites, architectural wonders, and cultural traditions reflecting its rich heritage as a crossroads of civilizations.

Uzbekistan is generally considered a safe travel destination for tourists. The country has made significant efforts to improve security and promote tourism in recent years. However, like any destination, travellers should exercise normal precautions, such as being aware of their surroundings, avoiding risky areas, and staying vigilant against petty crimes like pickpocketing.

Typically, a direct flight from Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, to Hainan’s main airport, Haikou Meilan International Airport, could take around 6 to 8 hours. However, flight durations may be longer if there are layovers or if travellers choose connecting flights with stops in other cities.

It’s advisable to check with airlines for the most accurate and up-to-date information on flight durations and schedules.
