HAIKOU, China – The Hainan Provincial Meteorological Bureau has issued a weather advisory warning for significant precipitation in the southwestern region of Hainan Island from August 1st to 5th. The area is expected to be influenced by monsoon trough (low-pressure area), and the southwest jet stream.
Residents in the southwestern region of Hainan Island should be prepared for heavy to torrential rain, with local extraordinary downpours. Other areas of the island will experience showers or thunderstorms, with some towns in the eastern and northern regions facing short-term intense rainfall and strong unstable weather patterns, with maximum hourly rainfall intensity projected to reach 50 to 90 millimetres.
Temperatures across the island will range between 33°C to 35°C, while the central mountainous areas will see lows of 22°C to 24°C, and other areas will experience temperatures ranging from 25°C to 28°C.

The cumulative rainfall forecast from August 1st to 6th indicates that Sanya, Ledong, Wuzhishan, Changjiang, Dongfang, and other cities and counties could receive between 200 to 300 millimetres of rainfall, with some areas possibly experiencing over 400 millimetres. In the rest of the cities and counties, rainfall amounts are expected to range between 100 to 200 millimetres, with some areas potentially receiving up to 250 millimetres.
Authorities advise residents and travellers in the affected regions to stay informed about weather updates and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
