The Meteorological Department of Hainan Province announced on the morning of the 25th that a tropical depression formed in the South China Sea, located about 145 kilometres northeast of Nansha Yongshu Reef.
It is expected that the depression may develop into a typhoon (tropical storm level) on the 26th, and land on the south eastern coast of Vietnam in the early morning on the 27th.
It’s forecast that there will be heavy rain in the eastern half of Hainan Island from the 26th to the 29th.
Estimated rainfall from 20:00 on October 26th to 20:00 on 29th:
Wenchang, Qionghai, Tunchang, Qiongzhong and Wanning 100-200 mm;
Ding’an, Baisha, Baoting, Lingshui 50-100 mm;
Haikou, Chengmai, Danzhou, Ledong, Wuzhishan and Sanya 25-50 mm;
10-25 mm in other cities and counties.
