Evergreen Park is a seaside recreational resort that covers an area of 83 hectares and is situated between Binhai Avenue and the north coast of the main part of Haikou. The park is home to nice gardens, beautiful trees, and walkways where visitors can enjoy a peaceful break from the bustle of the city. Locals bring their kids to enjoy small amusement park rides and snack on fresh coconuts. It’s also fun to rent an electric cart (60 yuan per hour) and buzz around the paths and along the coast of the South China Sea.
Many of the city’s festivals and events are held in Evergreen Park. The park was renovated around 2017 to 2018, which involved landscaping, work on plants, improving lakeside areas and drainage, the installation of footbridges and paved gathering areas, as well as an upgrade to the lighting within the park.
With its large open grass areas, it’s a popular spot for running and jogging. The other two major parks in Haikou, Golden Bull Mountain Ridge Park and Haikou People’s Park, are also very popular and have a relatively high percentage of tree cover.
