On December 18th, the provincial meteorological station reported that Typhoon “Jelawat” the 17th typhoon of the year had weakened to a tropical depression by 14:00.
Anticipated to enter the southern waters of the South China Sea on the 19th, its influence will result in a persistent decrease in temperatures across Hainan Island.
From the 19th to the 22nd, the entire island will experience overcast skies with occasional clouds and light rain, accompanied by a continuous drop in temperatures.
On the 22nd, inland areas may see minimum temperatures plummet to 10-13°C, while other regions will range from 13-16°C. Southern areas will experience higher temperatures ranging from 19-23°C.
From the 23rd to the 24th, clear to partly cloudy skies will prevail across the island. Coastal areas will experience minimum temperatures of 11-14°C, while inland areas will range from 8-11°C, with mountainous regions of Qiongzhong and Wuzhishan possibly dropping to 6-8°C.
Maximum temperatures on the 23rd will be 18-22°C in the southern areas and 14-17°C in other regions, with a slight increase on the 24th.
On the 25th, a gradual rise in temperatures is expected across the island, with most areas experiencing minimum temperatures of 10°C and above.
