2024 Qionghai Bo’ao Marathon: Registration Opens for One of Hainan’s Most Scenic Races

The highly anticipated 2024 Qionghai Bo’ao Marathon, set in the beautiful city of Qionghai, Hainan, is now officially open for registration. Scheduled for Sunday, December 22, 2024, this marathon promises a breathtaking racecourse that blends Hainan’s natural beauty with its rich historical and cultural landmarks.

Scenic Marathon Route

2024 Qionghai Bo’ao Marathon: Registration Opens for One of Hainan’s Most Scenic Races

The 2024 Qionghai Bo’ao Marathon is regarded as one of the most scenic marathon routes on Hainan’s east coast. The race will take runners through iconic spots, such as:

  • Bo’ao Forum for Asia: A permanent international forum site, this location is a symbol of global cooperation and economic development.
  • China (Hainan) South China Sea Museum: The museum showcases treasures from the South China Sea, adding a cultural touch to the marathon experience.
  • Wanquan River: Known for its peaceful, picturesque waters, runners will get to enjoy views of the lush riverbanks as part of their race journey.
  • Hainan Ring Road: A road that stretches along the coast, offering stunning seaside views.

This route will offer participants a combination of pastoral landscapes and international influences, making it a unique race in the region. The official course will be finalized and released after precise measurements have been completed.

Race Categories and Participation

The event aims to attract 15,000 participants, offering multiple race categories to suit different preferences:

  • Full Marathon: 3,000 runners, including 100 pacers and 200 healthcare workers (referred to as “angels in white”).
  • Half Marathon: 6,000 runners, including 200 pacers and 300 healthcare workers.
  • Fun Run: 6,000 runners participating in a more relaxed and enjoyable race experience.

Prizes and Awards

Rewards will be offered to the top finishers in both the full and half marathons. The top eight male and female runners will receive cash prizes, with the top three also being awarded trophies and medals. Winners will be ranked based on gun time.

Full Marathon Awards:

  • Top 8 male and female finishers will receive prizes.
  • Trophies and medals for the top 3 finishers.

Half Marathon Awards:

  • Top 8 male and female finishers will also receive prizes.
  • Trophies and medals for the top 3 finishers.

Green Marathon and Zero-Carbon Initiative

The 2024 Qionghai Bo’ao Marathon will emphasize environmental sustainability, promoting the concept of a “Green Marathon.” The race will take place in China’s first near-zero carbon demonstration zone, with runners encouraged to become part of the “zero-carbon pioneers” movement.
