Boao Intl Airport Begins Serving International Flights

Bo’ao International Airport recently marked a significant milestone by commencing international flight services. This development is poised to enhance the region’s connectivity and support the broader goals of the Hainan Free Trade Port.

The inaugural international flight, N440QS from Hong Kong, landed at the airport on June 21, heralding a new era of international travel for Qionghai and its surrounding areas.

Official Approval and Preparation

The journey to this achievement began on March 15, when Bo’ao Airport received official approval to open its aviation port. This was followed by the Civil Aviation Administration of China’s decision on April 30 to rename the facility to Qionghai Bo’ao International Airport.

As the third largest international airport in Hainan, it aims to become a pivotal aviation hub in the eastern part of the island, contributing significantly to the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port.

Enhanced Passenger Experience

To provide an optimal travel experience, the airport has implemented several passenger-friendly measures. Additional on-site signage, more inspection channels, and simplified inspection procedures were introduced to improve clearance efficiency. These steps are designed to offer a high-quality, convenient, and efficient clearance environment for both inbound and outbound passengers.

Professional Ground Services

Deer Jet’s Hainan Fixed-Base Operator played a major role in managing the ground handling tasks for the inaugural international flight. Their services included joint inspection unit declarations, baggage handling, and transportation, all aimed at providing passengers with a seamless service experience.

Looking Ahead and Future Prospects

Looking ahead, Bo’ao International Airport plans to launch regular international passenger flights, including a new route to Seoul. The airport’s capacity to handle international flights will be further enhanced by the continuous optimisation of Hainan’s visa-free entry policy for citizens of 59 countries. This expansion will see the airport opening more international routes, thereby increasing its connectivity and importance as an aviation hub.

This development aims to not only boost the region’s aviation capabilities but also play a crucial role in connecting Hainan with the rest of the world, providing travellers with a high-quality service experience.
