Excitement on the Sands: 2024 FIVB World Beach Volleyball Challenge in Haikou Kicks Off

On November 13th, 2024, the FIVB World Beach Volleyball Challenge made a grand return to Haikou, bringing athletes and enthusiasts from around the world to Holiday Beach. This year’s tournament has drawn 117 teams from 27 countries and regions, with more than 300 participants, including athletes, coaches, and officials. As the host nation, China is fielding 17 teams, making it a strong presence in the competition.

Exciting Start to the Competition

The opening day saw 37 thrilling matches, setting the stage for what promises to be a high-energy tournament. Athletes from across the globe impressed the crowd with powerful spikes and diving saves, showcasing their skill and determination.

On November 14th, the Women’s Qualification Tournament continues, with four Chinese teams competing for a spot in the main event.

The tournament is set to feature some of the sport’s top names, including China’s Xue Chen—a bronze medalist at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and a veteran of four Olympic Games—and Taliqua Clancy from Australia, who secured a silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Local athlete Lin Meimei, along with national team member Xia Xinyi and others, are set to compete against some of the top players from around the world.

Volleyball fans are encouraged to visit Holiday Beach from November 14th  to 17th for an up-close view of the competition and a chance to cheer on the teams. The atmosphere promises to be electric as Haikou becomes a temporary home to world-class beach volleyball action.
