Hainan province bans disposable non-degradable plastic items.

Hainan has released a list including the first batch of disposable non-degradable plastic products that will be banned in the province.

The list include products such as disposable plastic bags, packaging bags, meal boxes, bowls, drink cups and straws made from non-biodegradable polymers such as polythene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET).

The products will be banned from production, sale and use starting Dec. 1.

The list was made in accordance with a regulation Hainan has issued to ban disposable non-degradable plastic products for the purpose of promoting the construction of a national ecological civilization pilot zone and strengthen the prevention and control of plastic waste pollution.
