The core module’s integration into the Changjiang nuclear power plant’s nuclear island signifies a pivotal stage in the reactor’s construction.

The Linglong One SMR’s modular design and standardized approach streamline construction, reduce costs, and enhance safety measures. Its compact size and flexible deployment options offer operational convenience and economic benefits.

Assembly of the core module of the world’s first commercial small modular reactor (SMR), Linglong One, was completed on August 10, 2023 in Changjiang, Hainan Province

Upon commissioning, the Linglong One SMR is expected to generate a substantial 1 billion kilowatt hours of electricity annually, contributing significantly to Hainan’s energy needs and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 880,000 metric tons each year, equivalent to planting 7.5 million trees annually.

The stable and reliable clean energy provided by Linglong One will further contribute to the construction of a “clean energy island” in Hainan.
