The 2025 Spring Festival travel season will run from January 14 to February 22, lasting a total of 40 days. During this period, the Qiongzhou Strait is expected to see significant increases in traffic volume, with both passengers and vehicles entering and exiting the island. Additionally, there will be high demand for outbound transport of fruits and vegetables and inbound transport of essential supplies.

Key Predictions for 2025:

Vehicles entering and exiting the island: 1.18 million trips (a year-on-year increase of 5%).

Passengers entering and exiting the island: 4.97 million trips (a year-on-year increase of 3%).

Inbound peak: January 21 to 24.

Outbound peak: February 2 to 4.

Ferry Ticket Sales:

Spring Festival ferry tickets for passenger and vehicle transport across the Qiongzhou Strait are now available for purchase. Below are the key timeframes for buying tickets:

Inbound Tickets (to Hainan):

Tickets for travel during the peak inbound period (January 21–24) are only available for purchase between January 7 and January 10.

For travel outside these peak dates, tickets can be purchased as per the general pre-sale schedule (15 days in advance).

Outbound Tickets (from Hainan):

Tickets for travel during the peak outbound period (February 2–4) are only available for purchase between January 4 and January 6.

For travel on other dates, tickets can be purchased 30 days in advance, according to the standard pre-sale period.

Ticket Pre-Sale Schedule:

  • Inbound ferry tickets: Available 15 days in advance.
  • Outbound ferry tickets: Available 30 days in advance.

Important Reminder:

Drivers and passengers without tickets should not proceed to the port. Entry into the port for ticket inspection is permitted only 60–180 minutes before departure.

Inbound Travel to Hainan:

Peak Travel Period: January 14 to February 4, 2025.

This is when most people are arriving on the island to celebrate the Spring Festival holiday.

Outbound Travel from Hainan:

Peak Travel Period: January 29 to February 22, 2025.

This is the return period when travellers leave the island after the holiday.

Ticket Purchase Dates

Spring Festival ferry tickets for passengers and vehicles across the Qiongzhou Strait are now available. To ensure smooth travel during this high-demand period, it is advisable to purchase tickets in advance. Below are the key timeframes:

Start of Ticket Sales: December 31, 2024.

Purchase Period: December 31, 2024, to January 24, 2025.

Tickets for specific travel dates during the peak season are released according to a pre-sale schedule. For example:

Inbound Tickets (to Hainan):

Available for purchase from January 7 to 10 for travel between January 21 and 24, 2025.

Outbound Tickets (from Hainan):

Available for purchase from January 4 to 6 for travel between February 2 and 4, 2025.

It is important to note that travellers can still purchase tickets outside these specific dates, subject to availability. However, these periods are designed to prioritize high-demand travel days during the Spring Festival season.

Travel Tip: Ferry schedules are subject to change. Confirm details with official ferry operators closer to your travel date.

How to Enter and Exit the Port Quickly

Outbound Route

For Passengers:

  1. Arrive at the GTC Transportation Centre via private car, shared ride, bus, or other public transportation.
  2. Use the escalator to the second-floor departure hall.
  3. Undergo identity verification at the public security exit inspection channel.
  4. Proceed through security checks for luggage and passengers.
  5. Enter the commercial area and waiting zone.
  6. Conduct a second round of ticket inspection before boarding.
  7. Pass through ticket gates and board the ferry.

Travel Tip: Passengers must present valid tickets to proceed. There is no need to collect additional boarding passes.

For Small Vehicles:

  1. Route 1: Take the intersection at Binhai Avenue and Bo’ao Road to access the port area.
  2. Route 2: Use the G15 Ring Expressway to connect to the Haikou Port Expressway and access the port area.
  3. Drivers and passengers must undergo identity verification checks at the exit inspection channel.
  4. After verification, proceed to the waiting zone, enter the port, and board the ferry.

Inbound Route Instructions

For Passengers:

After disembarking, proceed through the corridor bridge to the GTC Transportation Centre on the ground floor.

Choose your onward transportation method based on your needs to leave the port area.

For Small Vehicles:

Dock Positions #1–12:

Vehicles not requiring passenger transfer can follow directions and drive straight out of the port.

Vehicles requiring passenger transfer:

Drivers should follow port guidance to the vehicle passenger transfer area.

Passengers disembark and head to the passenger waiting area near the transfer zone to wait for their transfer.

Dock Positions #13–18:

After disembarking, follow port signage to enter the exit lane and drive out of the port.

Passengers should remain in their vehicles while leaving.

Travel Tip: Vehicle passengers must remain in their vehicles while boarding. Stay updated on ferry schedules by checking LED displays at the port.
