The Lingao Point Liberation park is an important reminder of one of the most important battles in military history on Hainan Island.

Haikou National Geological Volcano Park (火山口地质公园) is located 15 km to the southwest of Haikou and covers an area of 108 km2 it’s a dormant volcano which last erupted some 11,500 years ago. There are 40 different types of volcano in the Geopark and 30 lava caves with the longest lava tunnel running to more than 2000 metres.

If you are coming to Haikou then you really should visit Baishamen park and beach. It's a great place to hang out with family or friends. Whether you are going to relax, going for exercise or just taking the kids out to play.

The Mei she river Feng Xiang wetland park covers an area of around 200 acres and is capable of treating 5,000 tons of wastewater from the Mei she river each day. Last weekend The Haikou Guide, visited the park to discover what it's all about.

Water shortage has been a consistent issue for generations in the volcanic region of Shishan. People in the area used to put large pot vats under their roofs to collect rainwater for daily use. With the local terrain being hard volcanic rock it has always been difficult to dig wells.

Guilin Yang is one of my favourite haunts at weekends, it's only 20 minutes from Haikou City, has a beautiful unspoiled beach that’s usually empty, has some nice nature walks if you know where to look and by and large has a really relaxed friendly atmosphere.

Nanshan cultural tourism zone is a large scale theme park covering an area of 50 square km. It includes Kwan yin Buddha Park, Cihang Mercy Park,  Jixiang Ruyi Park, Nanshan Temple, longevity Valley, and Nanshan Bay. The Kwan yin Statue is in the Guinness book of records as the highest statue in the world at 108 meters.
