Hainan 2025–2026 School Calendar: Key Dates for Teachers

Hainan’s Provincial Department of Education has released the official academic calendar for the 2025–2026 school year, giving students, parents, and teachers a clear framework for planning the year ahead.

According to the calendar, schools in the compulsory education stage, primary and junior secondary schools, will begin their winter holiday on January 17, 2026, and their summer holiday on July 11, 2026.

Regular senior high schools will follow a slightly later schedule, with winter vacation starting on January 24 and summer vacation beginning on July 18.

Hainan 2025–2026 Academic Year: Key School Dates at a Glance

  • August 31, 2025: Students registered and reported for the new school year (first semester)
  • September 1, 2025: First semester officially began
  • January 17, 2026: Winter holiday begins for compulsory education schools

According to the Provincial Department of Education, kindergartens and special education schools follow the same academic calendar as compulsory education schools. Specialized schools do not adopt unified winter and summer holiday schedules and may arrange holiday teaching activities flexibly based on actual enrollment conditions, while making appropriate arrangements for teacher rotations.

Off-campus education institutions, including youth student activity centers that also operate as community education colleges, may formulate their own academic calendars based on the characteristics of off-campus education. These calendars are implemented after approval by the education authorities of the respective cities or counties.

Note: Statutory public holidays are implemented in accordance with national and provincial regulations.
