2026 China Public Holiday Schedule: Key Dates to Know

The 2026 New Year’s Day holiday has nearly concluded, marking the start of this year’s public holiday calendar. According to the official notice issued earlier by the General Office of the State Council, the following arrangements apply to major public holidays in 2026.

New Year’s Day
The New Year’s holiday runs from January 1 (Thursday) to January 3 (Saturday), for a total of three days. Sunday, January 4, is a make-up workday.

Looking ahead, the remaining public holidays for 2026 are scheduled as follows:

Spring Festival
Holiday from February 15 to February 23, totaling 9 days.
Make-up workdays: February 14 and February 28.

Qingming Festival
Holiday from April 4 to April 6, totaling 3 days.

Labour Day
Holiday from May 1 to May 5, totaling 5 days.
Make-up workday: May 9.

Dragon Boat Festival
Holiday from June 19 to June 21, totaling 3 days.

Mid-Autumn Festival
Holiday from September 25 to September 27, totaling 3 days.

National Day
Holiday from October 1 to October 7, totaling 7 days.
Make-up workdays: September 20 and October 10.

These dates reflect the official national holiday arrangements for 2026 and can be used for planning travel, leave, or work schedules for the rest of the year.
