The Inaugural Hainan International Coffee Conference Opens August 22 in Haikou

The first Hainan International Coffee Conference will be held in Haikou from August 22 to 23, 2025. Approved by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Hainan Committee, endorsed by the Hainan Provincial Government, and listed as a key provincial convention and exhibition project, the event marks a major milestone for the island’s coffee industry.

With the theme “New Business Formats, New Scenarios, New Models”, the conference will provide a platform for international dialogue, exploring global industry trends while focusing on opportunities for Hainan’s coffee sector in the context of the Free Trade Port.

Global Participation

Nearly 500 participants are expected to attend. As of now, 31 international guests from 13 major coffee-producing countries—including the United States, Germany, Italy, Brazil, and Ethiopia—have confirmed their participation. They bring expertise spanning production, innovation, and global market development.

Domestic participants represent 19 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions across China, covering the entire industry chain: from cultivation and processing to roasting, trade, branding, research, and investment. Attendees include representatives of international organizations, founders of leading brands, world champion baristas, academic experts, and investors seeking new opportunities.

Conference Highlights

The main venue will be the Haikou Westin Hotel. Over two days, the conference will feature high-level forums, roundtable discussions, an investment promotion fair, and product launches. Topics will include smart supply chains, AI integration, and cultural exchange, with sessions dedicated to analyzing growth opportunities for Hainan’s coffee industry and strengthening China’s role in the global market.

On August 22, the Hainan Free Trade Port Coffee Industry Investment Promotion Conference will introduce policies and incentives aimed at building bridges for cooperation and investment.

A highlight of the second day, August 23, will be the unveiling of 20 new products from seven brands. These will include smart coffee machines, nitrogen-sealed concentrated extracts, and specialty single-origin Robusta grown in Hainan—showcasing both technological innovation and local character.

Immersive Side Events

In addition to the main conference, satellite events will run in parallel, featuring a specialty coffee exhibition, technique demonstrations by world latte art champions, a green bean competition, and other interactive activities designed to deepen industry exchange and enrich the experience for participants.
