Yacht race to Sanya set for October

Yachtsmen have the chance to show their skills in a 722-kilometer yacht race from Hong Kong to Sanya in Hainan Island this October.

Applications are now open for the race, sanctioned as a qualifier for the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race 2020, which will mark the 23rd anniversary of its launch in 1997 and has been held biennially since 2012.

The organizer, the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, said Sanya is “a great finish location for a holiday or a transit point for yachts going onto other sailing events around the Asia Pacific Region.”

The start will be in front of the club’s Kellet Island Clubhouse at 11.20 am on October 23 and finishing at Serenity Marina in Sanya.
