Spotlight on Hainan; Michal Tomanek, CEO and founder of Hainan Hi Sky

According to Michael Tomanek, many people who try skydiving for the first time, do so to overcome some fear they have in their life, and it might not necessarily be a fear of heights or flying.

Michal said that most people he jumps with for the first time are naturally scared of the experience, but it is important for them to put their trust in the instructor.

Michal skydives almost every day and he has been working as an instructor for many years.

“Pre-jump nerves are good because it’s not normal to for people to jump out of a perfectly good plane. The moment you put your trust in the instructor, you’ll begin to enjoy it and get more out of the experience”.

Sky diving in Hainan is a relatively new sport which has recently come to the island. One of the first bases to open was in Bo’ao, Qionghai.

Now there are sky dive bases across the island, coastline locations such as Wanning, Dongfang and Qionghai are some of the most popular.

Hainan is attracting interest in Low-altitude flight tourism from around the globe

Professional sky diving instructors from around the world have come to work and develop the low-altitude tourism industry in Hainan.

Michael’s journey into skydiving first began back in college, where he needed some extra money to pay for his studies and day to day expenses.

At that time, he started working with a skydiving company at the local airport as a parachute packer.

After a few years of doing the job, the local aero club sponsored him to start sky diving, paying for his equipment and jumps.

Tropical weather and all year-round blue skies make Hainan an ideal location for skydiving

Hainan is ideally suited for the skydiving industry, because of the tropical weather and number of blue-sky days, companies can operate all year round.

Another key factor when setting up a business is the support offered by organisations like the Haikou Talents Home who provide free services as well as lectures by local entrepreneurs and business leaders to help companies like Hainan Hi Sky navigate the business environment in Hainan.
