Haikou’s largest Apple duty free store is set to be built on the second floor of the Aquarius building within the shopping plaza. The new store will have sufficient space to showcase new product releases and consumers will be able to enjoy tax exemptions on the latest devices.

The duty free city, official name GDF Plaza (Haikong Global Boutique Haikou Duty-Free City) opened in January 2021. The new island departure duty free center opened at the same time as Times DF (Haikou Mission Hills Centreville Duty-Free City) which at that time raised the total number of duty free stores in the province to nine.

The duty free city is set to expand in phases and will eventually span across two buildings covering 38,920 square meters of space.
