Hainan Offers Up to 2 Million Yuan for Hosting Sports Events

The 2024 “Haikou Cup” Dragon Boat Race recently wrapped up, and the 2024 “99 Cup” Hainan (Wenchang) Township Volleyball League is now underway. Hainan is currently witnessing a significant increase in public enthusiasm for sports, which is driving growth in sports-related spending.

To support more sports events and convert event participation into consumer spending, the Provincial Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television, and Sports has issued the “Hainan Province Implementation Rules for Rewarding Influential Sports Events.”

Organizers can receive up to 2 million yuan for hosting sports events.

These rules specify that support is available for international and national sports events that align with the development goals of the Hainan Free Trade Port, aim to establish Hainan as a national sports tourism demonstration zone, and can effectively boost sports tourism consumption. Only one organization can receive a subsidy for each event.

The rules outline the following reward criteria:

  • Major international and domestic sports events (excluding professional leagues) with at least 10,000 spectators or 5,000 participants will receive a one-time reward of 500,000 yuan.
  • Events with at least 15,000 spectators or 6,000 participants will receive 700,000 yuan.
  • Events with at least 18,000 spectators or 7,000 participants will receive 1 million yuan.
  • Events with at least 20,000 spectators, including more than 10% from outside the island, will receive 2 million yuan.

Organizations wishing to apply should ideally complete an initial review with the local Tourism and Culture, Radio, Television, and Sports Bureau 15 working days before the event.

After passing the initial review and re-evaluation, applicants can submit their materials for incentives online via the provincial government’s “HaiyiDui” platform.

Applicants must provide third-party event evaluations and audit reports as required. The Provincial Department will conduct a review and, upon verification, will issue the payment.

To access the “HaiyiDui” platform, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the Official Website: Go to the official website of the Hainan provincial government or directly to the “HaiyiDui” platform.
  2. Register an Account: If you do not already have an account, you will need to register. This usually involves providing personal or business information and verifying your identity.
  3. Log In: Use your registered credentials to log into the platform.
  4. Navigate the Services: Once logged in, navigate to the relevant section for submitting applications related to cultural events and incentives.
  5. Submit Application: Follow the instructions to fill out the necessary forms and upload required documents. Ensure all information is accurate and complete to avoid delays in processing.
  6. Track Application Status: After submission, you can track the status of your application through the platform.

For specific instructions or if you encounter any difficulties, it is advisable to contact the support services of the “HaiyiDui” platform or refer to the help section on the website.
