Previously part of the Road to Mallorca schedule in 2019, the Hainan Open will be co-sanctioned with the China Golf Association. A total prize fund of $500,000 makes it China’s premier men’s professional golf tournament for the year. With 72 Challenge Tour players aiming to secure their spot in the Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final, the stakes are high, offering a chance to earn coveted DP World Tour playing privileges for the 2024 season.

Jamie Hodges, Head of Challenge Tour, expressed his enthusiasm, emphasizing the Danzhou Ancient Saltern Golf Club’s unique charm and its significance in shaping golfing careers. Past champions of the Hainan Open, including notables like Alexander Knappe and Francesco Laporta, have risen to compete at the DP World Tour, highlighting the event’s pivotal role in grooming talent.

Zhang Xiaoning, President of China Golf Association, anticipates an exciting return for the Hainan Open, underscoring its importance in fostering the growth of golf in China. The tournament stands as a testament to China Golf Association’s support for the sport’s advancement.

With Hainan’s unique climate and geographical setting providing an idyllic backdrop, the tournament promises an exceptional golfing spectacle. With an elevated prize fund and an unparalleled atmosphere, the Hainan Open is poised to create lasting memories, uniting golf enthusiasts and players from all corners of the world.
