Yang Yunsheng, professor at Hainan University, Contemporary China and Chinese Culture

Hi, I’m Yang Yunsheng, I’m a professor at Hainan University. I mainly teach Chinese culture courses, including “Contemporary China” and “Chinese Culture.”

Contemporary China is a compulsory course for international students. The main textbook used is “The Chinese Dream of a Century of Trends.”

This tutorial consists of five parts: “A Hundred Years of Dreams”, “The Chinese Road”, “Chinese Spirit”, “Chinese Power” and “Building a Dream World”.

The video for this course is magnificent, shocking, and unforgettable; the text is brilliant and gripping, showing the arduous struggle of the Chinese people for the prosperity of the country, the rejuvenation of the nation, and the happiness of the people from different angles.

The history, political system, economic development and diplomatic strategy, show the development process and achievements of China’s reform and opening up, showcasing China’s efforts and achievements in environmental protection, people’s life, education, science, and cultural undertakings so that international students can understand that the Chinese dream belongs to both China and the world, and that a stable, prosperous and peaceful China is important for world peace and development.

“Chinese Culture” is an elective course for international students. The textbook used is “We Walk on the Road” (1949-2019) published by People’s Publishing House.

There are 24 chapters in the book, 8 of which are selected for classroom teaching, other chapters are for self-study after class. Learners can fully appreciate the development process and achievements since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, especially since the reform and opening up, and appreciate China’s efforts and achievements in people’s life, education, science, cultural undertakings, environmental protection, anti-corruption, and international cooperation.
