Discover Hainan episode 6 – white water rafting in Wuzhishan

In episodes 5 & 6, Jake and Patrick head off to Wuzhishan for a Discover Hainan two-part special, in part 1 (episode 5) they visit Yanoda Rainforest Park and in part 2 (episode 6) they head off into the Wuzhishan mountains for some white water rafting.

White water rafting Wuzhishan Hainan

The Wuzhishan Hongxiagu river rafting, otherwise known as Red Canon rafting is open to the public from Monday – Friday. Daily there are two opportunities to ride the rapids, one at 12 pm and the other at 1 pm.

The canyon covers an area of 3,000 hectares and the river is around 3.8 kilometres long, taking around 2 – 3 hours to complete. The largest ramp on the river is around 80 meters.

Adverse weather conditions can affect the daily operation of Red Canyon rafting centre, so probably best to avoid going after heavy rain.

It is possible to get to Red Canyon by bus from Haikou or Sanya. First take a bus from any of the long-distance bus stations to Wuzhishan city 五指山, once in Wuzhishan, take the city bus that goes to 水满乡 shuimanxiang, the bus picks up from opposite Wuzhishan bus station 五指山汽车站。

You will need to get off at 红峡谷 hong xia gu, which is the rafting centre.
